Green River Reservoir Professional Review and Guide
"This large reservoir is the premier paddling destination in Vermont, so it is best to avoid it on summer weekends. On our trips here, we have seen black bear, moose, whitetailed deer, mink, otter, beaver, loon, osprey, and much more. Several wilderness campsites dot the area.
As with most bodies of water in the lowland North Country, the shores are lined with silver maple that forms a canopy over this wide, slow river. A consequence of the canopy, however, is that it provides an infinite number of launch pads for deer flies, a dipteran predator (genus Chrysops) that locates its prey by sight. We strongly recommend wearing a hat when you paddle here to reduce the aggravation."
