Indian Brook Park Loop

Indian Brook Park Loop Professional Review and Guide

"Circling Indian Brook Reservoir is like taking a leisurely stroll. It is not uncommon to meet locals out for a walk with their dogs on a warm winter afternoon. The trail, which goes around the finger-shaped lake, is never far from the shore, offering panoramas of the frozen water and its various bays.

Located in Essex, outside of Vermont’s largest city, Burlington, the nearly 2-mile-long loop is easy to ski or snowshoe. Those on skis will find some of the hills exhilarating as well, as the trail rolls up and down in a few sections. Surface quality: Ungroomed but packed."

"This pleasant stroll around the Indian Brook Reservoir is very easy, and the views along the shore of the lake are beautiful. Make a day of it and picnic and swim, but be sure to check with the Essex Town Office for a parking pass."

The counterclockwise loop begins at the summer boat launch area. There is no sign marking the trail, though blue arrows do point the way along the path. The trail initally skirts the shore as it rolls through the forest. Up to the right are rocks that tumbled down when a glacier moved through the area. Surface quality: Ungroomed but packed."
