Mount Moses Road Professional Review and Guide
"This ride's general location is Bridgewater Corners. Scenery includes classic rural Vermont: streams, stone walls, fields. This loop starts and finishes just south of Bridgewater Corners at the Topliff Cemetery. The ride begins with a gentle climb on Hale Hollow Road to Five Corners. The ride changes from a tranquil cruise on a mellow country road to a demanding, technically challenging four-wheel-drive road with several stream crossings, washouts, and an 800-foot elevation gain.
Lined by stone walls for most of the way, the Mount Moses Road rises and plunges through extinct farmland where dilapidated foundations and abandoned fields remind us that men and women once lived off this land. At the height of the ride you head directly north, hell-bent for the Ottauquechee River, interrupted by several brief climbs. A ride parallel to the river takes you back to Bridgewater Corners, and a final cool-down on VT 100A returns you to the cemetery."
