Maple Hill

Maple Hill Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"There’s not really a defined summit to Maple Hill, but the hike itself is a nice ramble through the forest. The Maple Hill Trail starts at the end of the parking lot farthest from VT 9. You hike down along the river and cross over a fairly major bridge. After crossing the bridge, the trail veers to the left and follows down along the riverbank. The trail is quite flat at first. After a brief ramble along the river, the trail veers sharply to the right away from the river and up a set of stone stairs.

Here the trail begins a steady, moderate climb. The surrounding forest is very open with a high canopy providing shade. The trail isn’t too well-defined here, so keep an eye out for the white blazes. The trail surface is extremely rocky, so much so that it resembles an old streambed. Ten minutes into the hike, you’ll come to a moss-covered rock garden."
