Wheeler Mountain Loop Professional Review and Guide
"A fun scramble over open ledges and along a cliff to a nice view of Lake Willoughby and the surrounding mountains.Wheeler Mountain is definitely in the category of a small hike with a big reward. Though it has a wooded summit, the journey there is mainly over open slab and traverses a dramatic cliff. This hike goes over Wheeler’s summit and continues to Eagle Point, a rocky perch with a truly incredible view of the Lake Willoughby region. The trail enters the woods on a smooth footpath that dips down to a streamlet and then heads uphill, passing along the right side of a meadow as it heads north. At 0.1 mile, at the far end of the meadow, the trail splits at the junction of the White Trail and the Red Trail. You will close the loop here at the end of the hike. Turn right (northeast) onto the Red Trail."
