Waller Mill Park

Waller Mill Park Professional Review and Guide

"This ride's general location is 5 miles west of Williamsburg between US 60 and Interstate 64. Scenery includes mature hardwoods surrounding a lake. This is a demanding-and popular-single track in a coastal area where you'd expect flatter, easier riding. This loop repeatedly switches back as it circles around the eastern section of Waller Mill Pond, so it's easy to get a little disoriented in places.

Throw in the short but steep ups and downs, and it's hard to take your eyes off the trail long enough to admire the striking hardwoods and lake that surround you. There is little flat terrain as the trail meanders through the woods, so this ride is strictly for intermediate to advanced riders. The riding surface is very narrow and winds its way around holly and oaks, many of whose roots poke their way across your path, adding to the technical challenge of this loop."

This trail no longer exists and the only trail to ride bikes on in this park is now a paved trail that runs along the road near the entrance to the park. Do not go here to ride bikes. Park employees say hurricane Katrina destroyed the singletrack in the park. Sounds like bunk to me but regardless there is no singletrack to ride here.
