Belle Isle State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This park is located in what’s called a “coastal estuary,” where salt water and freshwater meet, creating the estuarine environment oysters and crabs thrive in. Covering 739 acres with more than 7 miles of frontage along the lower portion of the Rappahannock River, an area otherwise very developed, the park makes a nice oasis.
You can explore the area by renting a canoe, kayak, or motorboat from the park, or rent a bike. You can also bring your own boat and launch from the ramp. Look for a diverse range of wildlife that includes hawks, blue herons, and turkeys, as well as deer, groundhogs, and various amphibians and reptiles. Equestrian trails and hiking trails also run through the park. The fishing pier is accessible and park trails are wheelchair accessible"
