First Landing State Park

First Landing State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Seashore State Park (now called First Landing State Park) joined five other state parks as the first to be launched into the fledgling Virginia park system on June 15, 1936. It was renamed First Landing State Park in 1999, but Virginia traditions tend to remain, so you’ll find many folks who still refer to it as Seashore State Park.

First Landing’s greatest appeal is its proximity to the activities of Virginia Beach, billed as the world’s largest resort beach and the largest city in Virginia. For campers who crave solitude when pitching a tent, however, the park’s popularity and location in a city of approximately 430,000 people can be its biggest detractors. However, rolling dunes and live oaks form effective buffers between many sites."

The 5.3 mile trail has a spur off of it on the back end that crossess over to George Washington's HQ at Yorktown. You can then hike/bike the historical tour from there reaching Yorktown Battlfield, York River Beachs, and the Colonial Parkway.
