Prince William Forest Park, Oak Ridge Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Located in busy northern Virginia not too far outside of Washington DC, this 14,000-acre park amazingly manages to give that “getting away from it all” feeling and with good reason: It is the largest protected natural region in the DC metropolitan area.
There are 37 miles of trails to hike. Watch for beavers, reintroduced into the park in 1950, and eastern box turtles, in addition to the hundreds of other species of plants and animals that live in this sanctuary so close to urban sprawl. Bring your bike and choose from 12 miles of paved road biking, 9 miles of graveled road, or one of the 10 fire roads for off-road biking."
