The Ragged Edge

The Ragged Edge Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"If you were going to do only one backpacking trip in Shenandoah National Park, this is the one you should choose. While this 24-mile trip is far from easy, the route visits one park highlight after another, sometimes in such quick succession that the scenery and the climbs may be equally likely to take your breath away.

From big views from Stony Man (4,011), Hawksbill Mountain (4,050), and Old Rag (3,268), to the scrambling challenges of the classic Ridge Trail, to the waterfalls of Cedar Run, and the descent through Virginia history in Nicholson Hollow, this Blue Ridge hike has a lot to offer an ambitious hiker."
