Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge

Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge Professional Review and Guide

"With over 140 miles of unpaved roads throughout this 109,000-acre wildlife refuge, the Great Dismal Swamp provides a variety of opportunities for off-road cyclists to explore one of the largest remaining wooded wetlands in the eastern United States.

The Washington Ditch Road is just a small sampling, but certainly the most accessible route for cyclists interested in pedaling through the swamp's biological diversity to the mysterious and beautiful Lake Drummond.

Trail Surface: Hard-packed dirt / gravel canal roads."

Trail is really flat with not much to see. Make sure you bring plenty of bug repellent if you don't want to be eaten alive. It is a swamp after all.
