North Mountain Trail to Elliot Knob

North Mountain Trail to Elliot Knob Professional Review and Guide

"The intersection of Crawford Mountain Trail and North Mountain Trail is the center of many mountain biking options. The trails that intersect this section of the North Mountain Trail are numerous. All of these trails extend southward as you ride past Elliot Knob.

Consult a map and plan accordingly if you choose to go farther south or north on the North Mountain Trail. Riding north will eventually take you to the Ramsey's Draft Wilderness Area. Though off-limits to bikes, hikers will enjoy the virgin stands of hemlock trees -- a rarity in Virginia. Trail Surface: The incline and flat sections are smooth and challenging. The sections toward the top become extremely rocky."
