Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Weaving through Spotsylvania Battlefield, this national recreation trail intermittently runs along park auto-tour roads before ducking back into woods. In addition to numerous earthen trenches, the circuit passes the Bloody Angle, scene of a 20-hour, rain-soaked battle, and the ruins of the Harrison House, Robert E. Lee’s battlefield headquarters.
Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park encompasses four Civil War battlefields—Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Court House— where more than 100,000 soldiers perished. For a year and a half, Fredericksburg and farms to the west served as a linchpin in the Confederate defense of Richmond."
