Stony Man

Stony Man Professional Review and Guide

"Ascending Shenandoah’s second-tallest mountain is a short and
rewarding hike, probably one of the nicest circuits in the park. Arrive early to avoid the crowds; this is one of the park’s most popular hikes.

This short hike gives a quick reward as you climb to the top of Stony Man Mountain, Shenandoah’s second-tallest mountain at 4,014 feet. It’s one of the easier and more pleasant hikes in the park, which explains its popularity. Despite its being a short hike, a few trails may make navigation more complicated
than other hikes of this difficulty; just keep an eye on the blazes to stay headed in the right direction. From the parking lot, look for the well-signed trailhead that leads to the white-blazed Appalachian Trail (AT)."
