The best part of this trail is that there is not formal "trail". Hiking through the meadow is beautiful - something unusual in Shenandoah since most of the hikes are in the wooded areas. While we didn't hike it during the early morning or late afternoon, I've been there when I've seen people walk up to the deer in the field almost close enough to touch - it's amazing. It makes for a nice stroll, and following the wildlife trails can be fun, especially for kids. Since it's all open it also offers options for families to let kids explore a little bit on their own, but never get out-of-sight. Great to let them build a little confidence while still under the watchful eye of mom and dad.
