I rode the trail with my Dad the day after Thanksgiving. It was an awesome ride with a lot of different elements. However, I would not really recommend bringing a beginner on it. Up till mile 7, it was pretty easy, no major hills to climb, everything was gradual. First off, if you are looking for the Bear Wallow Trail sign, it is no longer there, but there is an old sign post that is falling apart and the markings are now a light blue instead of white. The trail climbs straight up about 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile over massive rocks the size of softballs to watermelons, 50% unrideable, but it was a quick way to get to the top. After that, the trail drops off with about another mile of nasty boulder fields, about 75% rideable, but no way rideable for beginners. The trail eventually smooths out a little for an awesome ride back to the car. Make sure to take your second right towards the end of the ride, the first one is Glass House trail and neither have signs or are marked well. I would definitely go back again!!
