Lake Fairfax Park

Lake Fairfax Park Professional Review and Guide

"Lake Fairfax Park’s 476 wooded and open acres are tucked away in a unique, high-end planned community in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Reston was conceived as a spacious urban area with a rural feel, complete with protected parks and greenery.

Planners in the 1960s could never have predicted the high-tech boom that has flooded Northern Virginia with dense traffic and urban sprawl; nevertheless, their foresight has preserved the forested environment that made Reston so desirable. Lake Fairfax is located near I-495, I-66, and VA 7, but you’d never know it as you drive down the wooded approach off Baron Cameron Avenue."

Beautiful, nice trails, flush toilets, no hot water, sites a bit close, but not bad. Trails have nice views and lot's of elevation change. Drive along skyline very nice with great views.
The campground is in a nice area of the park, with numerous hiking trails and streams nearby. The campground is pretty simple with its layout, but does not have showers. Good for seeing wildlife, I have seen black bears on every camping trip that I have made in Matthews Arm area of Shenandoah National Park.
