Laurel Hill

Laurel Hill Professional Review and Guide

"The ride through the hills and meadows of Laurel Hill will take you through a parcel of land that was once home to a Revolutionary War hero, thousands of reformatory inmates, and a magazine of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Laurel Hill, located in Lorton, Virginia, is a relatively new addition to a growing list of off-road cycling trails in Fairfax County. Named after the original hometown of one of the area’s first settlers, Joseph Plaskett, Lorton has a very colorful history.

And Laurel Hill, the geographic area where this ride takes place, is no different. The ride will take you through what was once the home of a Revolutionary War hero, thousands of the most hardened criminals, and a magazine of six Nike intercontinental ballistic missiles aimed toward the Soviet Union. Lorton’s history starts well before the arrival of Joseph Plaskett in the mid-1800s."
