Mariners’ Museum Park

Mariners’ Museum Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Noland Trail encircles Lake Maury, on the grounds of Mariners’ Museum Park. Fittingly located in Newport News, America’s shipbuilding capital, the museum explores maritime history, from the Age of Exploration to modern naval warfare. No admission is required to explore the grounds on this 5-mile loop with a sweeping view of the James River.

Archer Huntington, heir to the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, established the Mariners’ Museum in 1930 with the goal of amassing America’s foremost collection of maritime art and artifacts. Before most of the collection was purchased, Huntington had reshaped the 800-acre parcel on which he chose to build."
