North Creek Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"North Creek Campground lies secluded at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a no-frills area where you can pitch a tent in the shadow of towering hemlocks and even more towering mountain ridges, with few other campers around. There is no bathhouse, just vault toilets and water pumps, but camping at North Creek is several steps above backpacking. You can drive to your site along a fast-moving trout stream and find a grill on which to cook your catch of the day or something from your cooler, with a picnic table on which to eat or just sit. Additionally, there is a garbage bin, dump station, and helpful volunteer campground host.
North Creek Campground is not representative of all the campgrounds in this guide, but in many ways its scenic location and relatively primitive facilities connote the essence of what Best Tent Camping is all about. Not everyone is looking for this kind of back-to-nature experience, nor is it readily accessible to most people."
