Rivanna River Professional Review and Guide
"Occasionally good fly angling rivers simply get overlooked. Such is the case of the Rivanna near Charlottesville. Named after Princess Anne of England, this river has largely been ignored for better-known waters like the Shenandoah and the James. Good access points for wading anglers include a spot near Shadwell off of route 250 and a point near the Woolen Mills Dam.
Types of Fish: Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, carp and longnose gar. This fly-fishing chapter describes the "where, when, and how" for fishing in this area. It includes a full-page map and information on the known hatches, suggested equipment to use, the best flies to use, season, limits, nearby accommodations, and camping."
