Middleburg Vineyard Tour

Middleburg Vineyard Tour Professional Review and Guide

"Virginia is quickly becoming renowned worldwide for its wine. And Loudoun County is home to a number of the Old Dominion’s nest wineries. This mostly unpaved (gravel and dirt) ride is set up to lead cyclists through the area’s beautiful rolling horse country, connecting (or passing nearby) a number of NorthernVirginia’s most productive vineyards. Make plenty of time for this trip and stop often to taste the latest wine.

This ride travels through some of Virginia’s finest wine country, where visits to the vineyards are always welcome and wine tasting is just part of the tour. You start in the historic town of Middleburg, a small touristy outpost in the
middle of hunt country. Horses abound in this magnificent countryside. A town with a rich history, Middleburg has enjoyed its share of good fortune. Established in 1787, this centuries-old town was even graced by a US president when the Kennedy family attended the local Catholic church and built a home just outside town."

Very scenic & full of rolling hills. Trip took about 2 1/2 hours altogether, including water breaks & a visit to one of the vineyards. The directions were also very easy to follow.

Very scenic trail. Roads were mostly gravel which demanded a fat tire bicycle. On the steeper hills, the gravel was looser. Trail markers were good.

Trip was beautiful. Very hilly. The first winery did not open until 11 whereas the printout said 10. Meredith vineyards no longer exists. Those were our only two dilemmas.
