Patterson Ridge Loop

Patterson Ridge Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This tough loop combines a remote wilderness trail, the park’s biggest stream, some high country, and a campground. Start your hike on the seldom-trod Patterson Ridge Trail, rolling west along a ridge offering some views, then pass through a striking chestnut oak forest.

Descend to Big Run, literally the biggest stream in the park. Turn up Big Run, rock-hopping your way along the watercourse, with its rich forest and rock walls, to reach the Big Run Loop Trail, which leads to Skyline Drive."
