An easy, pretty hike in the Shenandoah National Park (only about 3 miles round trip) to lovely little falls with a nice swimming hole at the base of the falls. Although I didn't attempt it this time, sliding down the falls is probably possible depending on water level. There are a lot of longer, steep trails to more impressive waterfalls in the park but this is still a very pleasant hike, leading through beautiful woods and a sweet creek. There are a few creek crossings on this hike, which isn't bad if there hasn't been heavy rainfall. Big Rock falls isn't really "big" but it is lovely. After the falls, if you want to keep hiking, you can go another half mile to Camp Hoover (Rapidan Camp), which Herbert Hoover used as a retreat. This is a fun trail for both scenery and history. You can arrange to tour Hoover's cabins, which I hear is super interesting, but I did not tour the retreat buildings and grounds on this hike.
