Pohick Bay Regional Park

Pohick Bay Regional Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Pohick was named by Algonquin Indians to aptly describe this area as the “water place.” With its marina, boat launch, and boat storage facilities, Pohick Bay Regional Park offers a year-round haven for boaters looking for access to the Potomac River, just 25 miles south of Washington, D.C., in Fairfax County.

Those without a boat can choose from the park’s rental fleet of paddleboats, sailboats, and johnboats. Even landlubbers will find Pohick Bay’s 150 campsites great places to sleep under the trees while leaving Northern Virginia’s traffic jams behind."

The campground is well-laid out, plenty of privacy, especially the walk-in spaces. It was nice that the walk-in spaces had numbered parking next to the trail that led to them. The hot showers were clean and the grill next to the camp store had simple food that was excellently prepared and served. All the rangers we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful.
