"Historic Lexington, set deep in the rolling countryside of the Shenandoah Valley between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains, is the county seat of Rockbridge County. Lexington is known for its attractive homes, fine old mansions, two of the finest institutes of learning in the commonwealth and two of Virginia’s greatest Confederate heroes. Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson lived and are buried in the city. Today, visitors to Historic Lexington receive a warm welcome to the old college town.
