Stony Man and Big Meadows

Stony Man and Big Meadows Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is one of the most popular areas to hike along the Appalachian Trail. This traverse takes you south from US 211 at Thornton Gap to Lewis Mountain Campground, passing Marys Rock, Stony Man, Skyland, and Big Meadows.

Enter the woods on a wide trail from the end of the parking lot, intersect the A.T. in a few feet, and turn left. A break in the vegetation at 0.6 mile provides a view of Thornton Gap, and some of the mountains of the park to the north."
