Slate Lick Lake

Slate Lick Lake Professional Review and Guide

"This ride's general location is 20 miles Northwest of Harrisonburg. Scenery ranges from lush riparian areas to clear mountaintop vistas. It is very hard to find the first five miles of abandoned double-track from Slate Lick Lake and Gauley Ridge Road that begin this ride.

However, as long as you stay in the flat bottomland, you can't go too far off course. The rest of the ride includes some healthy climbing on hard-packed forest roads before you reach the top of Gauley Ridge. But wait for the descent, which seems to keep going and going before emptying onto hard-surface county roads that take you back to the start."
