Reddish Knob Professional Review and Guide
"This is one of those truly epic rides that every local in the Burg raves about. Most locals will recommend you do it as a shuttle, but that has never discouraged adventurous cyclists from climbing the 4,400-foot Reddish Knob, the second highest peak in Augusta County. If you choose to ride to the top, make sure you are well fueled and both physically and mentally ready, because the unforgiving climb to the Knob will test all of your determination and commitment.
Shuttling will allow you to conserve your energy. Despite it being a “downhill,” this ride will require all of your skill and strength. The first portion of the ride along Timber Ridge is highly technical. Within the first 0.5 mile, you will encounter a difficult rock garden that is bound to demoralize even the most technically able riders. This first rock garden is the most difficult, and what lies beyond is some of the most exhilarating trail in the region. As you descend onto Wolf Ridge, you’ll enjoy some of the most fun-rolling trail in the area. As with several of the other trails documented here, the SVBC has devoted a considerable amount of effort and dollars to making it highly enjoyable."
