Moormans River

Moormans River Professional Review and Guide

"A fascinating hike departs from Skyline Drive and descends past homesteads to an area at one time ravaged by a “once-in-2,000-years storm.”"

Not the best of places to hike in Shenandoah. It's decent in the summer because there's plenty of water and lots of swimming hole options. If that's what you are looking for, take Garth Rd/614 all the way to the reservoir. From there hike until you find a good place for a dip. The hike itself is just on slightly graded fire roads without too many thrills except for dicey crossings of the North Fork of the Moormans River.

Worst 'trail' I've been on. Walked 3 miles on a fire road and turned around. Never did that before. More like a swamp road. Not worht the effort to tell you how bad. Just find someplace else. SNP is loaded with great hikes.
