Otter Creek Outing Professional Review and Guide
"This ride's general location is on the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of the James River and approximately 10 miles southeast of the town of Glasgow. Scenery includes lush, densely wooded creeks and awesome views form the Blue Ridge Parkway. This loop combines riding on hard-packed service roads, through creek beds, and along the hard-surface Blue Ridge Parkway, arguably the finest cycling road you will ever find. Million-dollar views from the 470-mile Blue Ridge Parkway are a dime a dozen.
This ride can be somewhat tough to follow in places, due largely to obscure, unmarked intersections in the woods which will mean you are pretty lucky if you don't get disoriented, if not downright lost, at times. However, at no part of this ride will you be more than three-fourths of a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway and all of its cars. In addition you will find yourself getting wet crossing through Otter Creek, Cashaw Creek, Dancing Creek and Terrapin Creek. You'll also use Browns Creek as your path under the Blue Ridge Parkway. The spectacular views and the opportunity to reach speeds approaching the legal limit on this ridge-top road help you forget the less desirable parts of this outing."
