Burke Lake Park

Burke Lake Park Professional Review and Guide

"Entering Burke Lake Park from Ox Road in Fairfax County, the first impression you’ll have is of the park’s 18-hole golf course and driving range. Keep driving, however, as the park’s main road winds around past the 218-acre lake before reaching the campground entrance located next to the maintenance area. Burke Lake Road is an alternate, albeit less picturesque, entrance to the campground."

Went camping with the family here. Really enjoyed the park. There is a water park on the camp grounds and there is plenty to do. Friday night we saw a presentation about snakes and they had a few live ones to show everyone and handle as well as the one I caught early that day :-), The next day We went and did a nature hike on the pond where we could net things out of the pond and the Park Ranger would talk about them. I was lucky enough to catch the first painted turtle out of the pond. and later in the day we also had a chance to do a creek stomp where we could catch more things out of the creek with our nets. during the creek stomp I was lucky enough to spot one of the biggest Black Rat Snakes they have seen in the park in years. He just got done eating something big so we all had time to see him from a safe distance. Got some really great pics and vids of it as well. I highly recommend this as a place to camp as there is plenty to do.
