Sky Meadows State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This State Park in in Virginia’s portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains lives up to its name. Hikers can enjoy waterfalls, woodlands, vistas, exercise, and a visit to Virginia’s wine country. Suspended from the Appalachian Trail (AT), Sky Meadows spreads across the Blue Ridge’s eastern flanks down to the Piedmont. It consists of almost nothing but slopes. The broad meadows are reminiscent of the Alps, with vistas unsurpassed in the metro area. The park has a wide array of trails with var ying levels of difficulty, but most will cause you to break a sweat.
The park has 24 miles of hiking trails and access to the AT. We chose this hike, a 3.6-mile loop that accumulates about 856 feet of elevation change, because it’s a little easier for kids."
