Occoneechee State Park and Wildlife Management Area

Occoneechee State Park and Wildlife Management Area Professional Review and Guide

"This ride's general location is just above the Virginia-North Carolina border on Buggs Island Lake. Scenery includes marshy areas and lake views. This is a good family ride. The trail system at Occoneechee State Park is not open to mountain biking, but the park provides access to the 1,900 acre Occoneechee Wildlife Management Area which is open to bicycles.

The nine miles of gravel roads and double-track at Occoneechee WMA stretch onto a narrow peninsula where waterfowl are abundant. These flat out-and-back roads offer the opportunity for some easy riding and bird watching. By piecing together the main gravel road and two spurs, you can put together an easy 16-mile round-trip out-and-back ride."
