Pocahontas State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Bicycling has, for a long time, been a component of Pocahontas State Park’s outdoor recreation plans. But the Old Mill Bicycle Trail, as nice as it is, wasn’t quite enough for the growing masses of Central Virginia mountain bikers who were looking for more of a challenge and a place to test their skills.
Dan Soper, the park’s chief ranger, stepped in and, in cooperation with the Mountain Bike Virginia bike club, developed the park’s latest all-singletrack addition, geared solely to the needs of singletrack hungry cyclists. Mountain bikers love it. In addition to Pocahontas’ singletrack loops and the bike trail around Beaver Lake, there are more than 10 miles of old, grassy forest roads open to bikes. The Old Mill Bicycle Trail's terrain is rolling and many of the trails are wide and inviting, allowing cyclists of all abilities to enjoy the wooded environment of this state park."
