Northwest River Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Northwest River Park’s 763 acres lie on the coastal plain near the southern border of Virginia. Those coming for the day or to spend a few nights will find peace and quiet, with Indian Creek, Northwest River, and Smith Creek surrounding the park on three sides and a 29-acre lake meandering through the middle of it. Don’t worry about arriving unprepared to enjoy the water because paddleboats and canoes are available for rent.
You may also enjoy fishing in the stocked 6-acre freshwater lake for bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and trout. This land was once cultivated farmland, but shadier activities also went on here. More than 30 sites for making moonshine have been found on the property, including four in the area known as Moonshine Meadow. Alcoholic beverages are currently prohibited."
