Mill Creek

Mill Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Save this outing, with a descent (and then ascent on the return) of 500 feet, for midsummer. By then, hot temperatures will have warmed the waters of Mill Creek enough so that you will not hesitate to wade in and cool off in the pool at the base of a scenic waterfall.

Follow the (possibly) unmarked trail as it descends from the middle of the parking area. (It is the only one that descends. The other two ascend.) Come to the A.T. at 0.25 mile and turn left, reaching a short side trail to the left at 1.0 mile that leads 0.2 mile to a view of Glass Hollow. Continue on the A.T., staying to the right at another intersection at 1.8 miles, and pass by a viewpoint of Rockfish Valley and Southwest Mountain as you descend via switchbacks. Cross Mill Creek and come to the Paul C. Wolfe Shelter at 2.8 miles. Walk downstream for about 0.1 mile to the waterfall and swimming hole. Return by retracing your steps along the A.T. and the side trail to return to your car at 5.8 miles."
