Breaks Interstate Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This campground is located in an area called “The Grand Canyon of the South,” named for its deep river gorge created by the Russell Fork of Big Sandy River. It is called an “Interstate” park because it is situated across the state lines of both Virginia and Kentucky, so you get two states for the price of one. It sits on more than 4,500 acres of woodland, so campsites are mostly wooded sites, with a selection of grassy sites available as well.

The park is home to Laurel Lake, where boating and fishing are popular options. There is a boat launch and you can also rent a boat to explore the lake. In addition, there are playgrounds for the kids and interpretive programs provided by park rangers, as well as a restaurant and a visitor center with museum."
