Buggs Island Lake Ramble

Buggs Island Lake Ramble Professional Review and Guide

"Straddling the Virginia–North Carolina border lies the 50,000-acre John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir. Kerr Dam is the official name, but most Virginians call it Buggs Island Lake, named after an early settler who lived on a small island just below the present-day dam. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages this reservoir, which was built as one in a series of flood control dams along the Roanoke River.

In addition to the reservoir’s functioning as a hydroelectric power plant, this lake region is a recreational paradise. Of course, most activities involve the water, but this short and easy ramble is a must for your next outing there. Terrain: Flat with several gentle rollers."
