East Potomac Park and Jefferson Memorial Professional Review and Guide
"Extending south from the Mall, Potomac Park is just the place for a hike that features waterfront views of southwest Washington and northern Virginia, the Tidal Basin, memorials, golf and tennis courts, and much open space.
Potomac Park is one of the youngest parks in Washington, dating from the 1880s. Located on a spit of land between the Washington Channel and the Potomac River, the park features an abundance of free and inexpensive recreational facilities operated by the National Park Serice. Tennis, golf, swimming, minigolf, and picnicking are popular activities here, but the park is also a favorite with local fishermen. The path is flooded fairly frequently, but fortunately there’s plenty of space to detour around the puddles."
