Huntley Meadows Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Situated in Alexandria south of the beltway, Huntley Meadows provides a 1500-acre green space for hiking and nature watching—especially bird-watching. More than 200 species of birds either migrate through the park or make it their home. Species commonly found in the park include great blue herons, great and snowy egrets, king?shers, and red-winged blackbirds, to name a few.
The park visitor center has restrooms, exhibits about the wetlands and the history of the park, and staff to answer your questions. It also sells a small selection of nature-related children’s books. The hike begins on the Cedar Trail at the front entrance of the visitor center. For 0.3 mile, the Cedar Trail meanders through the forest until it reaches a fork."
