Wendover To Lucin Trail

Wendover To Lucin Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Before setting out on the Wendover to Lucin Trail, make sure to check the weather and call ahead for information on road conditions, since the trail can easily become flooded and impassable after rains or as the winter snows melt. You should also bring extra water, especially during the hot summer months, as well as plenty of fuel and supplies, since the area is remote and unforgiving.

Special Attractions: Remote trail through landscape of ancient Lake Bonneville; Provides access to two other historic trails; Access to Bonneville Speedway. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."

This is a really fun trail. The directions for the entrance are wrong but once you get on track they work fine. We used this trail to access the Trancontinental Railroad trail. Together they made for a full, fun day. Nearly 200 miles total offroad and more that a dozen ghost towns. I highly recommend this trail to see another side to Salt Lake. The mountains were beautiful on that side of the lake, and the desert was truly desolate, isolated and stunning in it's beauty. Nothing has changed out here at all since they built the railroad.
