"Due to its location between Provo and Heber City, Deer Creek is more popular with water sports recreationists than with anglers. During the summer, sailboat, water ski, and personal watercraft use is intense. Deer Creek Dam is situated at the top of Provo Canyon and is fed by the middle portion of the Provo River. The blue-ribbon lower stretch of the river starts at the dam. U.S. Highway 189 runs along the east side of the reservoir and provides free foot access from large parking areas along the highway. Key Species: Rainbow trout, brown trout, walleye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and yellow perch."
