Matt Warner Reservoir Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Named after a famous local outlaw, Matt Warner Reservoir is the largest of the three Diamond Mountain reservoirs and usually offers the best fishing. Facilities are limited to a boat ramp and a toilet. Though some snowmobilers try to make the trip in during the winter, it is primarily a summer fishery.
Expect heavy pressure here. The trout fishing holds up through much of the summer, and anglers from nearby Vernal know it. That’s the reason the limit is half the statewide normal limit. In the spring and fall, fish will be shallow and can be caught from shore. Bait fishing is good with Power Bait, salmon eggs, or a night crawler with a marshmallow. Casting bright-colored lures and spoons should also work. Fishing with flies is good with dark-colored wet flies and nymphs. In the summer, the fish will hold in deeper water. Trolling with pop gear, Triple Teazers, and flatfish will produce more fish at this time."
