Hideout Canyon Boat-In Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Once you’ve paddled, powerboated, or pumped your legs into camp, you’ll reach your site. You won’t want to arrive with your fingers crossed—and only four sites are currently first-come, first-served—so book up to four months in advance, up until the end of the season in mid-September. Each tent-only site has a picnic table with a small shade awning, a fire ring, and a tent pad. Flush toilets are open during the regular season; a vault toilet is available in the off-season.

While the remote location and limited access might have you feeling a little bit of almost-island fever, the limited tree cover still lets you know that you have neighbors. Sites are generously spaced; if you want to be away from the water, then site 6, 8, 12, or 14 will be your best bet. If you’re the sort who wants to wake up and walk right down into the blue, then sites 3 and 9 will give you the most access. Keep in mind that the shoreline fluctuates from year to year and can even vary from month to month. Drought years will see more shoreline and longer walks to the docks."
