Stanton Pass Trail

Stanton Pass Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This very pretty route links Southwest #47: Bull Creek Pass Trail in the north to Clay Point Road in the south. It leaves Bull Creek Pass Trail 2.7 miles west of Trachyte Ranch and heads generally southwest, gradually ascending the benches alongside Benson Creek. There are panoramic views of Mount Hillers, Big Ridge, and the conical Cass Creek Peak to the southwest, of Mount Pennell to the west, and of Mount Ellen to the northwest.

Special Attractions: Scenic pass with a range of backcountry scenery; Links two major 4WD roads, Bull Creek Pass Trail and Clay Point Road. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions."
