Lava Point Campground

Lava Point Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Perched high in the Kolob Terrace section of Zion National Park is the quiet and unassuming Lava Point Campground. Few people venture to this section of the park, and those who do aren’t visiting by accident. Lava Point is where serious park visitors, especially hikers, make camp. It’s the capital of the other Zion National Park.

While countless campers clog the crowded streets near the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, Lava Point remains blissfully unaware. As you make the turnoff onto Kolob Road Terrace near the town of Virgin, you get the feeling that you know something no one else does. The turn is not well marked, and the road passes through a small residential area before ascending along North Creek."
