Silver Fork Meadow Chutes

Silver Fork Meadow Chutes Professional Review and Guide

"The Meadow Chutes is a general term for the east-facing slopes of the lower Silver Fork Canyon. The proximity of this backcountry terrain to Solitude Mountain Resort places it among the most popular spots for day tours, especially since the wide, powder-filled meadows are easy to salivate over from the Eagle Express and Honeycomb Return chairlifts. While the terrain may seem benign from a distance, fatal avalanches have occurred here, and it’s not uncommon to see huge crown-lines on the upper slopes. Steep rollovers closer to the canyon bottom also hold extreme
avalanche danger. When the snowpack is questionable, tree skiing in the low-angle aspens is a good option."
