Locomotive Springs

Locomotive Springs Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Situated on the north shore of the Great Salt Lake, Locomotive Springs Wildlife Management Area has a handful of freshwater springs. Key Species: Rainbow trout, bluegill, and largemouth bass.

Although quite far from civilization, anglers know the stocking schedule at Locomotive well. Rainbows are planted on a regular basis in Teal, Baker, and the Bar-M Springs. A popular activity at Locomotive is sight-casting flies to large carp in the crystal clear springs. Sparks Spring has some bass and bluegill, but weed growth makes it difficult to fish for them. Take mosquito repellent in the summer months or you will pay the price."
