Gooseberry Reservoir

Gooseberry Reservoir Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Forest Service runs a campground with 10 sites near the reservoir. Key Species: Rainbow trout and cutthroat trout.

Fishing Index: Cutthroat and rainbow trout range from 10 to 14 inches at Gooseberry. Night crawlers and Power Bait typically produce fast action throughout the summer for planted rainbows. Float tubes work well here, and although there is no ramp, some small boats can be launched. Flashy spoons and spinners work well in the late morning and early afternoon. Dry flies fished behind a casting bubble provide excellent fishing in the evenings. Stripping in dark wet flies is popular with float tubers."
